October 12 Rural Impact Hub Forum for Nebraska Legislative District 1 Canceled

The Rural Impact Hub Forum for candidates, Janet Palmtag and Senator Julie Slama, running for Nebraska’s 1st Legislative District, has been canceled. In recent weeks, the candidates have been unable to agree on the forum’s format. The event, originally slated for October 12, was a continuation of the forum hosted virtually leading up to the primary election on March 30, 2020.

The spring event attracted the attention of hundreds of people and allowed equal amounts of time for each candidate to discuss issues directly related to southeast Nebraskans. Any additional questions regarding these topics can be submitted directly to the candidates prior to the general election on November 3. A video of the spring forum is available on the Rural Impact Hub’s website, ruralimpacthub.com, and YouTube channel.

“The Rural Impact Hub’s forum was designed to give District 1 constituents the opportunity to hear from the candidates running to represent them in the Legislature — something that doesn’t always happen in rural communities. We were proud to offer this, and plan to continue hosting opportunities for civic engagement in the future,” said Rural Impact Hub programming director Rebecca Johnson.

The Rural Impact Hub continues its mission to celebrate the success and opportunities in rural America.
